I bought a comprehensive home...

I bought a comprehensive home warranty protection policy through NATIONAL HOME PROTECTION (NHP). Today, I had a NO HEAT claim (24 degrees here) and received NO response or assistance from NHP. They left early for the day and their only phone number 800-608-6045 is an answering service. Again, we have NO heat in the home and no help from NHP despite them taking our $351.91 MONEY!!!

PLS, DO NOT buy from these people. Can you imagine being in your home with NO HEAT and no help from NHP after paying them a premium. This is why you buy home warranty protection. We're going on 14 hours now and nothing from NHP!!!!!

Home Warranty Group / www.homewarrantygroup.com is a scam. This is a home warranty scam.

Because of this website, I did not use American Home Shield or National Home Protection. I found Home Warranty Group on the internet and they sounded pretty good as a start-up company.

I entered my information to get a quote, and found out that you need to wait for them to call you to get your quote. They made it seem that my quote would come immediately. That was problem number 1.

Next, I get a call from a gentlemen, definately using a fake voice, offering to give me a quote. At first, he seemed very helpful, but then as his fake voice kept going in and out, he started talking to someone else in his office, cussing, laughing, and making jokes. Anyway, I asked how long they were in business he said something like 8 years, so I asked if I could read some info on their website and he said, oh the website is still under contstruction??? I said for 8 years???? he laughed and said you know how hard it is to get good technicians. Anyway this was the biggest joke I ever heard, and I need to warn everyone about the www.homewarrantygroup.com scam.

I did a who is lookup on the internet and it seems this brooklyn company is owned by Alberto Benamu. I did a little digging into Alberto Benamu and it seems he used to work for a company called Wextrust Capital which was accused of fraud. Also it seems that this website was just registered on 4/21/2009 so they have only been in business for less than 6 months. (picture of the whois lookup attached)

Stay away from the home warranty group scam.

I reported them to the better business bureau and hope that everyone can find this post and not make the mistake of purchasing from them.

I wish I would have pulled up the site before buying from them almost year ago.. I'm so happy my contract end on the 19th of this month. Very dispointed that there is only ONE number to reach them and when I had an emergency for my waterheater which OF COURSE was not covered NHP were closed in the middle of week for computer update to system.. You would of thought there would of been an addl number of recording to state if an emegency to contact a service provider and YOU will not be penalized since in their contract it states you need to get approval prior to repairs.. When I try to dispute the water heater..they said or if your read section a of contract it says does not cover the replacement of water heater.. The section of the water heater says cover.. parts and componets..Anyway, I glad to ending my contact with them.. I need to report a issue with my AC and go figure the phone just rings and rings..

DO NOT BUT THIS WARRANTY YOU WILL BE SORRY. Do not plan on ever getting your Home Depot Card. Check out the NY BBB and all other consumer Web Sites and you will be astonished. They will find a way of declining every claim you submit. The State of Texas has filed a compliant against them. Arizona has filed a cease and desist order against them. They are being investigated by the NY Attorney General as well. Let alone the hundreds if not thousands of people that want to file class action suits against them. They will not return phone calls, e-mails and good luck trying to speak to a supervisor. They have turned down two of my claims, one stating it was pre-exsisting (when the equipment still works) and the other by some small print stating the item is not covered. I have had many home warranties and this is by far the worse. Most if not all positve comments are from their employees trying to drive their overall rating up. By spreasding the word you are helping your fellow consumer to not get ripped off by this company during these troubling economic times.

Joe, I got bent over by this company too. I paid $1650 for a five year contract. After I complained to American Express about the Home Depot card scam that they are running they canceled my contract. Did you pay by check? If you did do you know what bank they use? I won a suit against them in Memphis TN and am trying to collect.

I contacted National Home Protection to sign up for for a ten year warranty. Discovered later that NHP is a scam operation and attempted to get a refund. This was within 24 hrs of the purchase. Everyone I spoke with in this effort either lied to me or put me on hold for 30 min. or more. I am fighting with my credit card co.- Barclays to get credit for this.

I purchased a 1 yr. home warranty w/ National Home Protection on April 3, 2007. I found it thru online. I used the warranty for 3 services - 1 minor repair, and the last 2 were a disaster! I didn't get Home Depot card, no responses to emails, & never return calls. NHP only sends me emails to remind renewal of my policy. A person name Victor Hakim sent me numerous emails to purchase warranty and I sent emails few times inquiring my Home Depot but no reply.
1. October 16, 2007-
I paid 45.00 service fee for a plumbing problem. Contractor made a hole in the ceiling dowstairs in order to fix plumbing from the sink upstairs Masters Bedroom. It was fixed but left the ceiling with a hole. I reported to NHP about the unfinished job. I was told to hire someone to fix it and i get reimbursed 100%. I hired someone & paid $225.00. I faxed copy of the receipt to NHP. I called after a week and told me they never got the fax so I did the 2nd time. Month later, I called and I was told a different story - that I can only be reimbursed for 55.00 (100.00 minus 45.00 service fee again). I asked to speak to the manager, transferred me to a name Mike Moore, who was in the meeting, & I left a message. I did call again several times but never call back. He's always in meetings everyday! I spoke to an agent, told me to email to Disputes. I did send twice. I finally got tired of it, so I told NHP to send my 55.00. I was told then that check will be mailed in few weeks.It never came til now!!!
2. March 18, 2008 - I paid 45.00 service fee. I have swimming pool problem. Contractor reported NHP my pool needs new motor. I was asked for a maintenance record before they can authorize a new motor. We don't carry any kind of record cuz we maintain our own pool on regular basis. NHP told me to send email to Disputes. I made follow up but claim was denied due to no maintenance record. This was not specified in the agreement & policy. Another one, they insisted that my policy is expiring soon and wants me to renew it. I told them - You refund my 225.00, do my pool service, & send my Home Depot, then I will renew my policy!
Please people, DO NOT purchase your home warranty with NATIONAL HOME PROTECTION. Check other websites, there's all kinds of complains against NHP!!!
